Basil formed Ascent Structures Limited with Brandon after several years as a Principal Chartered Structural Engineer working at top tier structural design consultancies in New Zealand.
Basil's career in Structural Engineering has gained him extensive experience in designing and managing a broad range of structural projects. This includes: office buildings, public buildings, schools, residential buildings, strengthening projects, telecommunication structures, leisure buildings, and temporary works.
He builds strong working relationships with design and construction teams, enjoying the collaboration, problem solving and opportunity to innovate. Basil is particularly interested in the future of seismic engineering and driving industry development in low damage resilient design.
Outside of work, Basil enjoys fishing and spending time with his wife, family and two dogs (Gus and Luna).
Brandon Fowlie

After several years as a Senior Structural Engineer at top-tier structural design consultancies in New Zealand, Brandon founded Ascent Structures Limited with Basil.
Brandon's experience in structural projects spans the education, accommodation, health, retail, and seismic strengthening sectors.
He has a deep understanding of New Zealand and international standards and is skilled in managing all aspects of a project, from design to construction. Brandon is an effective communicator and has a knack for conveying complex ideas to both the design team and contractors. He is also an excellent team player and is able to coordinate the efforts of a diverse group of consultants to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Outside of work, Brandon enjoys hiking and spending time with his wife, family, and friends.
